  1. I would say: No Democrats for you!! Find someone else who matches your politics and religion!

  2. Such satire! I'd say the coffee was the deal breaker. LOL. But seriously, a thread of truth runs through the story. Some women put up with far too much just to have man.

  3. Thanks for the compliments on the story Cara :)

Yes, I agree that too often "love is blind," not so much to looks, but as to properly evaluating the personal qualities of a man. Made that mistake myself more than once decades ago when I was in my twenties.

Now that I'm older and wiser I realize that good looks, a good haircut and a cool car don't make the man! (Though they certainly help.)

  5. Loved the Blog. Am wondering if she had found out after he spanked her that he was a Democrat would she had felt the same about the spanking as she did now? Maybe she should give it another try for now in addition to coffee she can be spanked for or political attitude.

  6. I appreciate the compliments on my blog Chuck :)

Of course in matters of politics, a wife should be seen supporting her husband's views and not heard voicing her own opinions. Sound spanking is certainly warranted to teach the new bride to "stick to her knitting" and keep quiet about politics, sports, the stock market and other manly subjects that are too complicated for our silly female minds to absorb.

But, whatever their politics, some men lack the gentlemanly characteristics to be worthy of 1950s-style wives. The fellow in this story is such a sad specimen.

The good woman in question informed me that she took my advice and declined a second date. Her former suitor will have to make do with an unwashed, smelly hippie chick or a bra-burning, ball-busting feminist.

  7. Thank you Claire. I love the "tongue in cheek" remarks about the wife's role. The 50's wife would be that way and if this friend wants to live as such (which I think is great growing up in the 1950's) she does need a suitor who feels the same way she does about politics. Good for her that she dropped him like a "lead balloon." I hope she finds that 50's type of individual who shares her beliefs and respects her enough to give her the spankings she feels she needs from time to time.
